Four Michelin Star Restaurants in Jersey
With a record four Jersey restaurants with a Michelin star in the latest Michelin Guide, the island is firing up its foodie credentials as one of the UK's leading centres of food excellence.
Ocean Restaurant at The Atlantic Hotel, Bohemia at The Club Hotel & Spa, Tassili at Grand Jersey and newcomer Ormer by Shaun Rankin were all awarded a Michelin star in this year's Michelin guide, which also recognised Mark Jordan at the Beach with a Bib Gourmand award. According to a report out this week by the Financial Times, Jersey's four restaurants with a Michelin star put the island on a par with fine dining hotspot Bray and Dublin, with only the cities of Edinburgh and London ranking more highly.

Richard Allen, Tassili: 'Retaining the star for us at Tassili is as fantastic as the day we were awarded it. We're over the moon that our passion for excellence has been recognised for a third year running, and overwhelmingly proud to be part of the food mecca that is Jersey.'
Mark Jordan at Ocean Restaurant
Mark Jordan, Ocean Restaurant at The Atlantic Hotel: 'What a week for food in Jersey! To receive 6 AA rosettes and then a Michelin Star for Ocean Restaurant and a Michelin Bib Gourmand for Mark Jordan at the Beach is absolutely fantastic and puts Jersey on the map when it comes to excellent food. I have the utmost pride in both kitchen teams for such an outstanding achievement yet again.'
Steve Smith, Bohemia
Steve Smith, Bohemia: 'To have been awarded a Michelin star after only arriving at Bohemia in February is an outstanding achievement. I am extremely proud of everything my team and I have accomplished over the last seven months, and this award reinforces our determination to continue raising the bar of gastronomic excellence in Jersey. I believe we are seeing a renewed appetite for innovative and imaginative dining experiences and the island is well placed to deliver fine dining of an exceptionally high standard thanks to its amazing produce, fish and seafood.'
Shaun Rankin at work in the Ormer kitchen
Shaun Rankin, Chef Proprietor of Ormer: 'For us to open in May and get a Michelin star four months later is an incredible achievement and a testament to the determination of the team and partners in this venture to make this a success. The Michelin inspectors noted our dedication to seasonal island produce and an unfussy approach to quality dining which is paramount to us. We are thrilled to become Jersey's fourth Michelin star restaurant; Jersey is gaining serious attention now as a culinary destination and Ormer intends to drive that process forward.'
