What's on in March


As spring arrives in Jersey, so do a whole host of exciting and unique events. From discovering the island's age old traditions to exploring traditional farmers' markets, here's our selection of what to do in March.

Grounds Of Samares Manor

2nd March - Apple tree grafting with the National Trust

Get a glimpse into Jersey's apple-growing traditions and have a go at traditional apple tree grafting for yourself. The beautiful gardens of Samarès Manor (pictured above) are the setting for this hands-on half day National Trust course with expert Vincent Obbard… bring a penknife!

8-9th March - Bioluminescence Walk

Join this after dark guided walk and discover the coastline's natural bioluminescence, and see tiny creatures glowing and sparkling in a few special spots along the seabed. A unique experience, you'll also get to explore the lunar-like landscape of Jersey at low tide with nature experts. Bring your wellies - or hire then for £1.

16th March - Vintage Fair at St Aubin

Browse the bric-a-brac stalls and perhaps pick up a few antique treasures along the way at this charming Vintage Fair in St Aubin (pictured above). Make sure you stop for coffee and cakes at one of the village's pretty harbourside cafes afterwards.

16th March - Boy George at The Royal Yacht

One of music's best known artists, Grammy-nominated Boy George plays a special one-night-only DJ set at the Royal Yacht Hotel. along with a number of special guest DJs. Overnight packages for this event are also available, contact the hotel for details.

Wide Of Mont Orgueil 597

21st March - Muse Morris at Mont Orgueil Castle

Ever wanted to have a go at Morris dancing? If you've always harboured a secret desire to try the English folk dance (go on, admit it) here's your chance with a unique Morris Dancing Masterclass at medieval Mont Orgueil Castle. This fun event will teach you how to wave your handkerchief with the best of them, and all abilities are welcome - even 'Morris Minors'!

Hot -cross -buns -3 597 Crop

28th and 30th March - Hot Cross Buns at New Street with the National Trust

If you go down to the National Trust's restored Georgian townhouse at 16 New Street today… you'll find 'housekeeper' Louisa de Gruchy in the kitchen baking trays of hot cross buns from a traditional Georgian recipe. All together now, 'one a penny, two a penny…'

30th March - Farm & Craft Market

With tasty local produce, original crafts and musical entertainment to enjoy, take advantage of the chance to stock up on homemade jams and local cheeses at this traditional farmers' market in the heart of St Aubin.
