Executive Chef Will Holland will kick off the festival with the Friday night banquet, a formal five-course dining experience with sommelier pairings. The stellar brigade of renowned chefs joining Will includes:

Lee Smith, Head Chef at Samphire, Jersey

Lee Smith brings a unique blend of innovation and tradition to his cuisine. Lee earned his first Michelin star on the island as head chef at Ormer in 2013 and remained at the heart of the redevelopment plans when the restaurant re-opened as Samphire, offering a more relaxed social environment. Lee led Samphire to a Michelin star in 2019.

Paul Leonard, Head Chef at the Burlington Restaurant at The Devonshire Arms Hotel & Spa, North Yorkshire

Paul takes great pride in working with home-grown and locally sourced ingredients at the three AA rosette Burlington Restaurant. Paul brings a wealth of Michelin-starred pedigree from his experience cooking at the two Michelin-starred Restaurant Andrew Fairlie at Gleneagles and having served as head chef at the Michelin-starred Isle of Eriska.

Chris Underwood, Head Pastry Chef at Frog by Adam Handling, Frog Hoxton and Belmond Cadogan, London

Chris is without doubt one of the most highly experienced and talented Pastry Chefs cooking in the UK today and has worked at some of Britain’s most iconic restaurants including the 2* Pied à Terre under Shane Osbourne, 2* Gidleigh Park with Michael Caines and 1* Fera at Claridges.

Richard Davies, Executive Chef at Calcot Manor, Tetbury

Richard’s Michelin-starred pedigree caters for a more relaxed restaurant experience at Calcot’s countryside escape. Richard’s take on modern British cookery will play well to The Atlantic’s unique blend of seaside and sophistication.

Adam Reid, Chef at The French, Manchester

Adam Reid launched The French in 2014 and helped establish it as one of the finest restaurants in Manchester. In its first year The French earned four AA rosettes and ranked as #13 in the Waitrose Good Food Guide 2019.

Diners will enjoy a culinary extravaganza featuring hasselback Jersey Royals, Jersey lobster and scallop, turbot and a ‘tater ash’ of retired Jersey dairy cow. The dishes have been expertly paired with carefully chosen wines including Vernaccia di San Gimignano from Italy and Peter Franus Cabernet Sauvignon from the Napa Valley in California.

Ingredients featured throughout Eat Jersey will be sourced from the land and waters surrounding the island wherever possible. By working with produce grown, reared and fished locally, the intention is that the festival will seek to minimise food miles and diminish its environmental impact.

International charity Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust will again be the festival’s philanthropic partner. Headquartered at Jersey Zoo, Durrell has a mission of saving species from extinction and focuses on the most threatened species in the most threatened places. Through their work at the zoo and in the wild their aim is for more diverse, beautiful and resilient natural landscapes in which species can thrive and people can enjoy a deeper connection with nature.

Speaking of the inspiration behind the event, Patrick Burke, owner and managing director of The Atlantic Hotel, said: “When we founded Eat Jersey in 2015, it was with a strong desire to celebrate the exceptional produce to be found on our beautiful island, as well as the remarkable dining experiences it offers. We are looking forward to welcoming such a talented brigade of chefs to The Atlantic for another gourmet celebration.’’

Eat Jersey Food Festival will return to The Atlantic Hotel, Jersey from 22nd to 23rd March 2019. Tickets for the Friday Night Banquet are available at £250 per person.
