St Brelade's Bay with L'Horizon Hotel in the background
Dreaming of a beach wedding? You don't need to go as far as the Caribbean for a ceremony steps from the sand, Jersey's got the pristine beaches, the picture postcard views and the luxury locations. And it's just an hour's flight away from the UK…
Choosing your location in sunny Jersey is a breeze - from cliff top hotels where you can say 'I do' in the Atlantic air to luxurious locations with the the sea - and even a castle - as a backdrop. You don't have to be a resident in Jersey to get married here, but there are a few conditions you'll need to comply with. You'll need to apply to Jersey's Superintendent Registrar by post and return the forms at least ten working days before the wedding date. You can collect your Jersey marriage licence in person no less than 3 working days before the ceremony date to complete the formalities.
'Just look at that view - it's stunning' says Breege Toland, Weddings Co-ordinator at L'Horizon Hotel & Spa. 'Who wouldn't want to be married here!' Just a few steps from St Brelade's beach - voted in the top 10 of the UK's best beaches by Tripadvisor - you can hold your ceremony at L'Horizon Hotel and have champagne on the sea view terrace, followed by photographs on the beach.

'Having your wedding here in Jersey is a lovely way of keeping everyone together, and giving your family and friends a really unique experience. It's a stunning backdrop for wedding pictures too, from photographs taken on the beach to the nearby Winston Churchill park with its waterfall, or even the headland just a few minutes' drive away. We're right in the centre of the bay, so in effect the whole of St Brelade's bay is your oyster!'
For a fairytale wedding, who wouldn't love a castle as a background? Weddings at Grand Jersey not only get the benefit of a dedicated wedding team on hand to ensure you can relax and enjoy the day, but also their stunning landmark location. Wedding co-ordinator for Grand Jersey, Maggie Caherty says: 'The recently updated terrace with its glass-fronted sea view is perfect for reception drinks, and civil ceremonies can take place in any of our hotel suites, on the beach or even at Elizabeth Castle…'

'Don't rule out getting married in the winter' says weddings coordinator Breege Toland. 'At L'Horizon Hotel we have some amazing packages for off-peak weddings, and even an 'exclusive use' offer where you can take over the whole hotel. And even if the weather's not ideal, you can still get those gorgeous sea views - but stay behind glass… or even in the spa if you prefer! After all, your wedding day is all about the special memories you're creating as a couple.'
Breege adds: 'We're seeing a rise in smaller, more intimate weddings, which is perfect for us at L'Horizon as wedding parties can really make the most of their time at the hotel - stay over, plan a family breakfast - with or without champagne! It turns your wedding into an unforgettable event. And even the traditional elements of weddings are changing too - we had a request last year for a cheese wedding cake, which we were delighted to source. I'm a cheese fan so it was a pleasure…'
