L'Horizon wins Hotel of the Year for the second time
Hand Picked Hotels, the UK’s leading independent group of country house hotels and spa resorts, has awarded L’Horizon Beach Hotel & Spa its Hotel of the Year in recognition of an outstanding performance in 2019.
The award was presented to Simon Miller, General Manager Jersey, during the annual award ceremony held this year at Nutfield Priory Hotel in Surrey, during which L’Horizon Beach Hotel & Spa was praised by the group’s Chairman & CEO, Julia Hands, for delivering excellent employee retention and solid financial results.
Julia said, “It gives me great pleasure to present this award to Simon and the team at L’Horizon. In addition to its strong financial performance during the last year, the team has demonstrated an exceptional level of guest care and attention to detail, evident from its high customer satisfaction results, with guests commenting on the warmth and professionalism of the team across all areas of the hotel. In addition, the hotel’s employee survey results were some of the highest in the company, consistently achieving exceptional levels of staff engagement and retention in a challenging recruitment market.”
Simon commented, “On behalf of everyone at L’Horizon, I am honoured to receive this award in recognition of all the hard work and dedication of the team; particularly my senior managers, Thomas Burford and Shaun McGachan who provided excellent leadership and support helping to achieve such pleasing results.”

It is the second time L’Horizon Beach Hotel & Spa has won Hotel of the Year since Simon has been at the helm, no mean feat given the tough competition from the other 18 hotels across the UK and the Channel Islands in the Hand Picked portfolio.
Simon added, “I’m obviously really pleased and must say, it feels just as special as the first time round.”
