Down to organise the office Christmas party? It doesn't have to feel like you've drawn the short straw. We've got our best event planners on the case to bring you all the tips you'll need to ensure your office do is a cracker…

1. Get everyone involved

Grand Jersey's events planning team say 'send a quick email around to canvas opinion first'. People feel much more inclined to get involved in an event if they feel they've had some input. Communication is so important when it comes to planning events'.

2. Phone around

Jersey venues have some amazing facilities close to town, from Grand Jersey's Park Suites and private cinema to the Royal Yacht's sea view Sirocco restaurant and Hotel de France's elegant meeting rooms. Give the events planners a call and try something different!

3. Make it hangover friendly

There's nothing guaranteed to put your staff in a better mood after a Christmas party than giving them the next morning off! In reality the morning after a party is never particularly productive, and this is a really easy way to boost staff morale and ensure everyone has a good time.

4. Don't go it alone

Small team? You can still put on a night to remember, Grand Jersey is running a series of Saturday night join-a-parties in the run up to Christmas which let you get all the benefits of a big event, without the big budget. Choose your date from the 8th, 15th and 22nd December and you'll pay £39.95 per person for a three-course meal, glass of bubbly on arrival and entertainment from 10pm to 1am all in the hotel's beautiful Grand Suite. Grand Jersey Events expert Emma Topham says 'it's the easy solution for small businesses - a great party and plenty of atmosphere for a really reasonable spend'.

5. What about lunch?

As well as often being less expensive, Christmas lunches make sure everyone's there by keeping the event in work time. Make it feel less formal by choosing a chic, upmarket location and some team-building events. Jacqueline McDermott from The Royal Yacht has some lunch time spaces left in Sirocco and has lots of ideas for adding some fizz… 'Disposable cameras on the table, Secret Santas, Xmas trivia quizzes and even a team-building sushi rolling or cocktail mixing class!'

6. View it as an investment

Everyone likes to feel valued and a good Christmas bash can really help to boost staff morale. Planning your party somewhere special where nothing is too much trouble will leave a lasting impression. L'Horizon Hotel's Festive Party package includes a free overnight stay voucher to liven up your raffle, and as well as a great four-course dinner, festive treats, half bottle of wine and glass of Bucks Fizz from £48 per person as well as the chance to stay over and spend the next day recovering in the spa….
