Until the 6th January - Ice Skate Jersey

Get your skates on for the last few days of Jersey's real-ice rink in Parade Gardens, St Helier. The undercover rink is open from 10am to 10pm every day, and to beat the chill, warm yourself up with a Winter Afternoon Tea at nearby Grand Jersey afterwards.

12th January - The Oyster Trail and oyster tasting at Seymour Pub

Wellies on (don't worry, you can hire them) for this low tide local food ramble out to the oyster and mussel beds and Seymour Tower on Jersey's east coast. Learn about Jersey's fishing traditions, spot wild shellfish and then it's back to Seymour Pub to taste a few local oysters.

Opera House

13th January - The Met Opera screening: Aida

Some Sunday night culture here as Jersey's Opera House screens the Met's unforgettable production of Verdi's ancient Egyptian drama. It's a cultural cinematic experience in the atmospheric setting of Jersey's Opera House.

20th January - Jersey Tough Guy 'Balls of Steel' challenge

Are you tough enough for Jersey's Tough Guy 'Balls of Steel' event? Be warned, it's 5 miles of 'wet, undulating terrain' (read mud and hills) along with obstacles, tyres, crawling, climbing and swings. You'll have to be over 16 and up to the challenge….

20th January - Festival 30

If you don't fancy getting muddy at Jersey's 'Tough Guy' event, then make a stop at Jersey's Arts Centre where they're celebrating their 30th anniversary with a day of performances. Expect an 'Edinburgh Fringe'-style atmosphere with jazz musician YolanDa Brown, a set from Crowns, a Cornish folk/pop punk band, readings from Andrew Motion as well as theatre performances.

21st - 24th January - Oddsocks: The Adventures of Robin Hood

A festive spin on the classic English folk tale, all served up in Oddsocks' eccentric style. This 'rumbustious retelling' (their words) features daring deeds, villains, romance and plenty of audience participation. It's guaranteed to liven up a cold January evening…

Corbiere Crop

26th January - Corbière Lighthouse - Seeing the Light

Love stories of seafaring heroism and shipwrecks? Don't miss this rare opportunity to see inside one of Jersey's most famous landmarks as Corbière Lighthouse opens to the public with this guided tour. Cross the causeway, climb the spiral stairs to the lantern room and get an insight into the lives of the lighthouse keepers who once lived there.
