The team at the iconic St Helier department store, de Gruchy, are once again encouraging  Islanders to step out and connect this January with a community walk aimed at boosting  spirits and promoting well-being, following the positive response to last year’s event.

The event will take place this coming Monday, 19th January, a day dubbed ‘Blue Monday’  and often considered one of the year’s most challenging.

The 45-minute walk, starting at 12pm, offers a chance for those on their lunch break to get  outside, enjoy some fresh air and connect with others. Participants will meet at the  Freedom Tree near the Radisson Blu and take a leisurely stroll along the waterfront before  heading back into town, finishing at the store in King Street.

Commenting on the walk, Simon Youden, Store Director at de Gruchy, said: “Last year we  were really encouraged by how many people joined us and by the atmosphere it created.  January can still be a difficult time for many, and Blue Monday often feels especially heavy.

We wanted to build on what worked and offer Islanders a simple, positive way to get outside, move a little and feel connected.”

The event is open to all, and no registration is required. Simply meet at the Freedom Tree at 12pm on Monday, 19th January.
